Frequently asked

Answers before we meet.

Still unsure whether your document is a fit? Use the booking contact option to ask before scheduling.

Does Michigan allow remote online notarization?

Yes. Michigan law permits commissioned notaries who satisfy the applicable requirements to perform notarial acts through a state-approved remote electronic notarization platform. Document eligibility and recipient acceptance can still vary.

Should I sign my document before the appointment?

Usually, no. Keep signature fields blank until Kayse or the remote platform instructs you to sign during the live session.

What identification do I need?

You will generally need a current federal- or state-issued identification document containing your photograph and signature. The approved platform also performs identity proofing and credential analysis.

Can every document be notarized online?

No. Eligibility and acceptance depend on the document, the receiving party, and applicable law. Confirm remote acceptance with the document recipient; Kayse can determine whether she is authorized to perform the requested notarial act but cannot give legal advice.

Is the remote session recorded?

Yes. Michigan law requires an audio-visual recording of a remote online notarial act to be retained for at least 10 years. The approved platform provides the recording and retention safeguards.

How much does online notarization cost in Michigan?

BlueNotary’s current customer checkout starts at $25 for one notarization stamp. Additional stamps are $8, an additional signer is $5, your own witness is free, and BlueNotary’s witness service is $10. Platform prices may change, and the exact total is shown before payment. Michigan law separately caps the fee charged by a notary public at $10 for an individual transaction or notarial act.

Is there a rush or same-day fee?

No Lakebound rush, same-day, evening, or weekend surcharge is currently added. Appointment availability varies, and BlueNotary’s standard platform pricing still applies.

Can you help me choose a document or certificate?

No. A notary is not an attorney and cannot draft documents, choose a notarial certificate for you, or advise you about the legal effect of a document.
